  • Alina and I sat next to each other; our hands handcuffed which did not allow us to touch one another. I looked at her and I could not help but growl lowly at what I saw. She had a small wound on her forehead and a bruised cheek which had gotten swollen – probably from when her face was slammed against the counter. I hated seeing bruises on her, but something I hated more was that damned collar.
  • It looked uncomfortable and as if it was draining the life out of Alina which worried me. She looked pale and every now and then, she looked as if she was in pain, her hand clutching to her stomach. I scooted closer and she lifted her head to look at me.
  • ‘Are you okay?’ I asked. She smiled and nodded but I knew the smile was fake. ‘Tell me the truth Alina,’ I said.
  • ‘It’s not that bad. The collar is just itchy and…’ she paused, almost as if she is unsure about how to say it. ‘It feels as if it is just draining me,’ she said.
  • ‘The collar… besides stopping your power, does it do something else?’ I asked, pressing on since I knew she was not saying everything. She sighed as she leaned against the wall.
  • ‘It’s made out of a special material. It kind of does to us what silver does to you,’ she mumbled. I gulped, feeling my throat run dry. That meant she was feeling a burning sensation and growing weaker by the second. ‘Don’t worry Tae, I can handle it,’ she said, offering me a small smile.
  • ‘We’ll get out of here, I promise I’ll get you out somehow,’ I said. I went to move but I felt the burning on my wrist. I could not help but hiss and she scooted even closer to me.
  • ‘Don’t Tae, you’re only going to hurt yourself,’ she said. I simply whimpered because I wanted to touch her and hold her in my arms as I comforted her.
  • ‘I wish I could hug you Alina,’ I mumbled but she heard him.
  • ‘I know Tae,’ she whispered back just as the door opened. Four men walked in, carrying guns with them. I saw the leader whose name I still had not learned along with Max – the * who put the collar on Alina’s neck.
  • ‘Well, well, well, here we are again. You might have escaped the first time, but you won’t be doing it again,’ he said as he walked towards Alina.
  • ‘Stay away from her!’ I yelled but he just laughed as he suddenly grabbed her from her hair and pulled her up. ‘NO! STOP!’ I screamed as I saw her muffle a scream so as not to let him know he was hurting her.
  • ‘I don’t think so. She’s coming with me,’ he said with a snarl. I shook my head as he began to pull her away with him.
  • ‘NO!! ALINA!’ I shouted as I went to stand up but instantly had two guns aimed at my head. She looked at me and shook her head, almost as if telling me to not do anything.
  • The man who was pulling her stopped as he smirked at me. ‘Don’t worry. You’ll be joining her mutt,’ he said as he nodded towards the others.
  • One of them moved behind my back, pressing his gun against my back, while the other remained on my side. ‘Move,’ he ordered in a very thick accent.
  • I watched as the leader continued to drag Alina and I just followed. I felt pathetic, unable to do anything to help my soulmate. It felt like I was failing her with every hit or pull or push she had to endure.
  • We were pushed out of our cell and from the distance I could hear the chatter. There were a lot of people gathered in one place for sure. We were taken to a huge room where a number of people were seated in a circle. I looked around and my eyes fell on three people who were sitting on what looked like thrones. There were three in all – an elderly man, a younger man, and a female.
  • ‘Put the witch there,’ the old man ordered as I watched Alina be pulled away to a stand. My eyes widened as I saw them tying her to the pole and I saw her gasp. This was like what they used to do to witched in the past.
  • ‘What about the mutt, my lord?’ Max asked as he pushed me slightly. The older man smirked as he looked at me.
  • ‘He’s her mate, is he not?’ he asked and Max nodded. ‘Then he should have a front seat to watch what we do to witches like her,’ he said. I felt my heart race with fear as Max pushed me towards their chairs and forced me to my knees.
  • My eyes went to Alina who locked her eyes with mine. She seemed scared and I was too. I did not want to lose her. Not now, not ever and not like this. Please goddess allow me to save her.
  • ‘Please don’t hurt her. She didn’t do anything,’ I said but the old man just smirked. The crowd was all talking at once until a hush fell among the crowd. I looked up to find the elderly man with his hand held up. It was as if he was a puppeteer and all these people were his deluded puppets.
  • ‘My beloved people, tonight, our amazing hunters managed to capture two, dangerous creatures – a werewolf and this witch,’ he said with certain disdain in his voice.
  • The people were nodding, a certain happy gleam in their eyes. I could never understand why they loved hunting us so much. It was not fair. We were not hurting anyone and it was not our fault we were born like this.
  • ‘Tonight, we teach them that there is no place for them in our world. They are violent and kill without mercy and—’ he said.
  • ‘LIAR!’ Alina shouted, anger radiating off of her. Gasps filled the room. Everyone’s head turned to her as did mine. There was a certain confident look in her eyes as she stared at the old man. She looked angry and almost deadly. ‘You’re a liar and a coward!’ she yelled again.
  • ‘Mind your tongue witch!’ the leader from earlier said as he slapped her but she just laughed and looked at him. I gulped, feeling my heart break a little every time someone hit her.
  • ‘Why? Does it bother you to be faced with the truth?’ she asked, tilting her head. ‘You prance around with your silver bullets and collars like this one because you’re weak and pathetic. You are nothing but cowards, the whole lot of you because you hide behind your weapons,’ she said.
  • ‘Shut up you insolent little wench,’ the woman yelled as she stood up. She looked as if she wanted to murder Alina herself. Her eyes had so much hate in them. ‘Your species are filth under our shoes,’ she said but Alina laughed.
  • ‘That is why you are so afraid of us,’ Alina said, laughing a little. ‘You think you’re so righteous and that you’re doing good work but fail to realise that there are good ones just like there are bad humans,’ Alina said.
  • ‘You’re no one to judge humans witch,’ the other male said. ‘We’ve heard enough from you. It is time that we pass judgement,’ he said as he turned towards the people.
  • Suddenly, the lights went off and I heard growling. It was loud and menacing and I could smell the fear emitting from the people. For people who were so cocky, they were certainly scared. I smiled as I recognized my mates’ scent.
  • ‘Someone get the lights back on!!’ the woman shrieked as the growling got louder. It seemed to echo in this place, perhaps making it sound as if there were more wolves than there actually were.
  • Suddenly, I felt the man behind me get knocked over and I quickly realized Jimin was here. ‘Tae!’ Jimin said and I smiled as I looked at him among the dark. Jimin started to quickly remove my handcuffs. ‘Are you okay? Are you hurt?’ he asked as I rubbed at my wrists that had burn marks from the silver handcuffs.
  • ‘Nothing I can’t handle Chim,’ I said as I heard people start to scream. I could hear the others moving about and I looked at the pole and saw Jungkook untying her. ‘Let’s get to work,’ I said as Jimin nodded.
  • The two of us jumped into the air and transformed just as the lights came back on. I growled loudly as I pounced on Max. I sent him to the ground and I growled loudly in his face. His eyes were wide in horror as he stared at me.
  • ‘Please… please no!’ Max begged but I shook my head as I ran my paw across his chest and neck, slicing up his skin. ‘That’s for putting that damned collar on her,’ I thought. He couldn’t understand me, but the others did. Max screamed as I got off of him while he continued to bleed.
  • I could hear more screaming and I turned to look when I saw Alina standing next to the throne which was the highest ground. She raised her hand and I saw a few hunters being cut off from the ground. She sent them slamming against the walls. She did the same to other groups while the boys and I gathered in front of her, almost in a protective semi-circle.
  • She was not looking at us as she focused on the others. She snapped her fingers and two big balls of fire appeared on her hand. She threw them all over, starting to set the place on fire.
  • ‘She’s our mate?’ Hoseok asked through the mind link. I could hear the awe in his voice as I nodded. He chuckled lightly as I felt the others all continue to look in amazement and wonder.
  • She had seemed to summoned air as the place got windy. The skies outside of the place darkened and I could hear the heavy rains and the thunder clapping as well. The whole place seemed to start to shake, almost as if she was uprooting it from its very roots and core. I looked at her – her hair was flying and her hands held steady. She looked like a real goddess right now.
  • The hunters seemed to have had disappeared and the screams no longer echoed in the place. Alina dropped her hands as everything seemed to calm down except for the fire. I watched her as he knees buckled and she began to fall.
  • Jimin was quicker though as he went in front of her and stopped her fall. She held onto him and smiled. ‘I’m okay,’ she said as she looked at each one of us. ‘Wow, you’re all here,’ she said with a loving voice, as I smiled, even though she could not see it.
  • ‘She looks exhausted,’ Namjoon said worriedly as he approached her slowly. She smiled wider as she petted his head. Namjoon let out a happy sound as he seemed to relax a little.
  • ‘We need to get out of here. I hate to state the obvious but this place is on fire,’ Yoongi said as Namjoon nodded.
  • I walked in front of Alina as she looked at me, almost as if she was trying to read me. I motioned for her to get on my back.
  • ‘Do you… are you telling me to get on your back?’ she asked, sounding uncertain. I nodded and motioned for her again. ‘Okay,’ she said as she steadied herself and approached me. She climbed on me really carefully and I could not help but notice how light she was. ‘I’m going to create a path for us,’ she said as Namjoon nodded once more.
  • She raised her hand immediately the fire seemed to move. A clear line was created and we walked right through it until we reached outside. We stopped and turned towards the house that was slowly burning. She raised both her hands as the fire seemed to come to life. The fire consumed the whole place, burning it completely. We stood there for just a few minutes before we started walking back home.
